Long Ing Farm
Long Ing Farm is a small farm just off the beaten track, it has sheep, pig’s (Betty and Barbara), free range Indian runner ducks, Free Range Chickens, our farm cats (Molly and Moon) and my beloved horse Ffyon. We must also mention Ruby the dog and now here puppy Millie who are very friendly and love to play on the farm. Long Ing Farm sells its Lambs at the Local auction mart in Holmfirth. You can come and meet both the animals and the owners in a relaxed friendly atmosphere and wander around the farm at your leisure. Long Ing Farm is nestled down the track in the lovely village of Hade Edge where we have a great village atmosphere fantastic walks, a children’s playground and a fabulous pub that serves food and its own brewed beer. Long Ing Farm is just above the small town of Holmfirth where you can find lovely cafes, restaurants and bars.
Long Ing Farm Holiday cottage has been running since December 2018 and we are very proud of what has been achieved and continue to grow and add amazing unusual facilities.
Long Ing Farm is very dog friendly cottage with a warm water dog wash and the use of a dog exercise field.
Long Ing Farm has the most amazing Views of the surrounding Yorkshire countryside that you can see from all aspects of the property including the Hot Tub, Decking and Newly installed Dining Pod.
Long Ing Farm has its own Yorkshire spring water which is filtered, treated and piped to the house where you can drink it chilled from the American Fridge.
The farm was fully renovated by us the owners before we moved here and the original cottage (the holiday cottage) was taken back to 4 stone walls even the roof had to be replaced. We as owners lived in the cottage for 10 years whilst renovating the farm and developing the Barn to move into.
Long Ing Farm is a very private place to stay in the midst of the Yorkshire countryside. We have all the amenities of a village on our doorstep and a small town just a couple of miles away.
Long Ing farm has its own Nature trail in a section of ancient woodland by a stream with swings, bug village and other surprises which leads to the tree platform and squirrels cafe.
Lambing is usually very popular on the farm and takes place in late March through April.
Hay Making is July threw to August.
Long Ing Farm has lots of parking with 3 places at the side of the cottage and an overflow car park just through the yard.
Yours Hosts Kay and James Spencer
Kay and James have renovated the farm house (now holiday cottage), farm and barn with Kay Project Managing, designing and fully hands on.
Kay and James Spencer have owned the farm since 2008 when they moved to the farm they originally lived in the cottage (holiday cottage) with their 2 children Alex and Sophie (this is why it is still so homely)
James runs an IT company called Pinnacle-online but is very active on the farm when needed.
Kay and James are passionate about Long Ing Farm and Farming they love being outside and like walking, running and biking. They love to Run 10K races all over the world! They have run 10K races locally or the largest 10K in the world the Peachtree 10K in Atlanta.
Long Ing Farm Cottage is a great diversification from farming and is a very important factor to keep the farm running and bringing tourists to the local area.
Long Ing Farm is constantly evolving with the addition of extra facilities and adding to the farm experience in the hope to encourage our guests to return with they do.
Kay is the farmer, runs the Holiday cottage and is a part time artist visiting local schools. Kay’s school work is a great distraction from the physical work of farming and allows her to exercise her creative side. She loved Animals and Children and thinks she has the perfect Jobs.
Kay is very passionate about making the experience at Long Ing Farm unforgettable and as homely as possible and try’s very hard to make it Home from Home and as memorable as possible for all the right reasons.
Long Ing Farm provides home made cakes and baking on arrival if required at a small additional cost.
